Peterson’s Trophy Cup Ends Upside Down

PETERSEN MEDIA- Even though his 2015 Trophy Cup was not the greatest, Matt Peterson was really happy with what he was able to learn during the three nights of racing, and was happy with the speed he showed.

“It was by far the fastest I have ever felt at the Thunderbowl, and I can take pride in that,” Matt Peterson said. “It was not the greatest weekend of racing, but I have to thank my dad for all his hard work, and everyone who helped us out over the weekend.”

With weather forcing Thursday and Friday’s program to be ran all day Friday, Peterson would qualify 9th quick and 12th quick respectively in each program and put his V&H Fresh/Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company No. p37 in good spots in each heat race.

Finishing fifth in his Thursday heat, Peterson would move into the B Main, where he would line up in the 13th starting position, and move up to finish in the ninth spot.

Coming back for the Friday program, Peterson would race wheel-to-wheel with Tim Kaeding in his heat race, and a second place effort would again put him in the B Main where he would roll off the grid in the seventh starting spot.

With cars tangling in front of him, Peterson would spin his machine to a stop to avoid the wreck, but he would have to tag the field from the back of the pack. Though mired deep in the B, Peterson did not let it phase him as he was able to work his way forward.

With his car pretty good on this night, the Wilton, CA driver would work his way back up to finish in the 11th spot of the semi when the checkered flag flew.

Sitting 36th in Trophy Cup points heading into the finale, Peterson would line up in the second row of his heat race, and finish in the fourth spot putting him in the 25-lap B Main.

Lining up 19th in the semi, Peterson would get his machine moving forward as the track was in great shape. Able to slide his way forward, Peterson would have issues on the 20th lap as he got upside down in turns three and four and brought his weekend to a close.

“Unfortunately I got to flipping and landed on Greg DeCaires of all people,” Peterson said. “It was a disappointing way to end our weekend, but like I said I was pleased with what we accomplished as a team.”

Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, Vahlco Wheels, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2015.
