Peterson’s Weekend Ends Upside Down

PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to get back in the swing of things behind the wheel of his Miller Lite No. p37 sprinter, Matt Peterson saw some improvement with the SCCT in Tulare, CA of Friday night before contact in Placerville, CA would get him upside down in the feature event on Saturday.

“We are making process, but it is a hard pill to swallow at times,” Peterson said. “I was reminded on Friday that I only ran a handful of races last season, so we are still shaking off some rust and taking on some serious competition.”

Checking in at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA on Friday night, Peterson would time the Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company/Bear Trucking backed No. p37 sprinter in eighth fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up eight in his heat race, the Wilton, CA pilot would have a nice showing as he would work his way up to finish in the fifth spot. Failing to transfer into the feature event, Peterson’s qualifying time would put him in the second of two ‘C’ main events.

Finishing second in the ‘C’, Peterson would tag the back of the ‘B’ Main where he would need to work his way into the Top-Seven to keep his night going. From the tail end of the Finley Farms ‘B’, Peterson was impressive on Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway.

With a strong car under him, he would make a valiant run through the field that would see him get up to the ninth spot at the finish line, just two positions away from a transfer position.

Loading up and heading north, Peterson and his team would make the tow directly to Placerville Speedway to take part in the track’s weekly season opener.

Timing in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials, Peterson would pick up a fifth place finish in his heat race aboard the Transportation Services/Future Energy Savers/Hoskins Mechanical machine.

Lining up 13th in the ‘A’, Peterson would again prove to be sporty in the early goings of the race. On a tricky Placerville Speedway racing surface, Peterson would bob and weave his way into the eighth spot in the first six laps of the feature event.

As drivers jockeyed for postion, contact would ensue and it would result in Peterson taking a nasty tumble, and end his night though he would climb from the wreck uninjured.

“It was a hard flip but fortunately it looks like our car is just fine, we just have some bolt on equipment to replace,” Peterson added. “I have to thank everyone who helped us out all weekend long. It was a long one, but it was a fun one for sure.”

Matt and his team would like to thank, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Transportation Services, Future Energy Savers, Hoskins Mechanical Resources, Vahlco Wheels, JhdDesings, Shell Shock, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2017.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS- Races-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-0

ON TAP: Matt will travel to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night for the fourth installment of SCCT action.
