PETERSEN MEDIA- Matt Peterson and his Peterson Racing team made the trip to the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA on Saturday night taking advantage of one final night of action at the Speedway before the upcoming 21st Annual Trophy Cup, and the end result was a nasty ride for Peterson, leaving him a little banged up.
“It was a nasty ride, and I am still pretty sore from it,” Peterson said. “I really have to thank all of the safety companies involved in this sport for building and manufacturing top of the life items.”
With 33 cars on hand, Peterson timed the V&H Fresh/Miller Lite/Inventory Sales No. p37 machine in third fastest, putting himself in the second row of his heat race.
Picking up a third place finish in heat race action, the Wilton, CA driver would earn a spot in the dash, where a seventh place finish would put him in the fourth row for the feature event.
Spending much of the feature event running inside the Top-10, Peterson would stay in a tight pack with cars jockeying for the 7-9th place positions.
On the 18th lap, things went south for Peterson as his rear axle let go, sending his car flipping violently, causing Peterson to be transported to the hospital to be checked out.
“It was a hard one for sure, and hopefully I can get better over the next week and a half or so,” Peterson said. “I am really thankful of all the safety crews, and again all of the safety part and safety gear companies associated with this sport.”
