PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting the 2020 season kicked off at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida last week, Daryn Pittman and Roth Motorsports took part in a pair of All Star Circuit of Champions events, and opened the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series slate with a trio of events. When the dust settled on the DIRTcar Nationals, Pittman and company saved their best for last as they finished second and third in the final two events of the week.

“Overall it was a really good week,” Daryn Pittman said. “We made improvements as the week went on, and our best result of the week came in our last night of action.”

Following a 15th place run with the All Star Circuit of Champions to open his second season with Roth Motorsports, Pittman put together his first Top 10 of the season on Thursday night by way of a seventh place finish.

With two All Star races out of the way, things became a little more real on Friday night as the curtain was officially raised on the 2020 WoO season.

Timing the Roth Enterprises/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co./HR Livestock Transportation backed No. 83 machine in fourth quickest in time trials, the Owasso, OK driver would race to a heat race win, and find himself in the Dash.

Finishing third in the Dash, Pittman would take the green flag from the second row for the season opening feature event. Struggling to maintain position over the course of the 30-lap event, Pittman would slip back to finish in the eighth position.

Back in action on Saturday night, DP would trip the clocks with the fastest lap of the night in time trials, and again would go on to win his heat race. Making his way into the all-important Dash, the former series champion line up sixth in the feature event by way of his sixth place finish in the aforementioned Dash.

With a very sporty Roth Motorsports machine under him, Pittman would work his way forward and find himself on the podium. Taking the checkered flag in third, Pittman and company would look to build off their momentum during Sunday night’s DIRTcar Nationals finale.

Timing in eighth quickest to open the final night of five consecutive to open the season, Pittman would again capitalize on front row starting position in his heat race and make his way into the Dash following another heat race win.

Winning the Dash and leading the field to green, Pittman would find himself in a torrid battle with Cory Eliason and Logan Schuchart as the trio put on a show. Working through traffic, Schuchart would lead the way as Pittman continued to battle wheel to wheel with Eliason as they looked to overtake the leader.

A caution on the race’s final lap for Eliaosn would put Pittman on Schuchart’s rear bumper for one final restart and one final shot at the win.

Coming up short, Pittman would cap his week with his best finish of the season, a second, to close the 2020 DIRTcar Nationals.

“Big thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for giving me an opportunity to come back out on the road with their team in 2020,” Pittman added. “We had to work at it a little more than last year to get where we wanted to be, but we got ourselves better, and that was really encouraging. Hoping we can continue that trend all year, and keep this car up front.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co., HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, All Star Performance, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium, and Team Simpson for their support in 2020.
