PETERSEN MEDIA: After a busy week of Midget racing with Keith Kunz Motorsports, Tanner Carrick returned home to pilot the Tanner Carrick No. 83T machine in Placerville, CA. Having a great night going, Carrick would make a mistake while leading early and his bid for his first career SCCT win would get cut short.
“We were really good all night long, and I just hate it for my guys and my family,” Tanner Carrick said. “Had a fast car in the feature and felt really good, I just entered turn one wrong and that pretty much did us in.”
Despite the tough ending, Carrick would make his presence known on this night as he would time the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in third quickest in his qualifying group.
Dismantling the field in heat race action, the Lincoln, CA driver would pick up the win going away and make his way into the High Sierra Industries Dash. Taking advantage of drawing the two pill, Carrick would continue to have a stellar night as he would leave the field in his wake and pick up the win.
By way of winning the Dash, Carrick would lead the field to green for the series’ first 35-lap feature of the 2019 season. With a wide array of talented veterans surrounding him, Carrick would not back down as he jumped out to the early lead and quickly gapped the field.
Despite a couple of early stoppages, Carrick would leave the likes of Tim Kaeding, Andy Forsberg, and DJ Netto in his wake as he looked to be in a league of his own on the tricky Placerville Speedway surface.
Lap 14 would be a pivotal point in the race for Carrick, as he would get into turn one wrong while racing in traffic, and it would result in him getting up over the edge of the racing surface and spinning his machine to a stop as he tried to get back on the speedway.
From the back of the pack, Carrick would make a few more laps before contact would leave him with a collapsed front end on the 22nd lap, which ended his night.
“It was great to be that fast against some really strong cars,” Carrick said. “It is a bummer our night ended like it did, but I am really excited to see what we can do this year.”
Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Arai, and Spike Chassis for their support.
