PETERSEN MEDIA- During the first two stops at the Placerville Speedway with the King of the West Series in 2016 Willie Croft looked to be well on his way to victory lane, but issues hampered. Saturday night’s third and final stop of the year at the track was again unkind to Croft as he was forced to exit the speedway while running in the third spot with a mechanical issue.

“Hopefully I am getting all of this bad luck out of the way before the NorCal Posse Shootout race that is taking place later on in October,” Willie Croft said. “We have been too good at Placerville Speedway this year to have nothing to show for it.”

Timing his Holey Smokes BBQ/ButlerBuilt/Brown and Miller backed No. 29 machine in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials, the Roseville, CA driver would finish fourth in his heat race and move on to the night’s Dash.

Pulling the three pill for the six lap Dash, Croft’s third place finish would place him in the second row for the 30-lap ‘A’ Main event. With the race having some issues getting off to a good start, Croft would find himself in the third spot as he chased after Bud Kaeding and Colby Copeland.

When things finally settled down, Croft looked to have a very strong racecar as he kept the lead duo within striking distance on the tight ¼ bullring. Looking to avenge some bad luck during two earlier starts this year, Croft would start to develop brake issues, and would opt to pull of the speedway on the 19th lap and call it an early night.

“I can’t remember having some much bad luck at one track before,” Croft said. “We have been really good this year, and hopefully we can finally have a couple complete nights there later in October.”

Willie Croft Racing would like to thank Holey Smokes BBQ, ButlerBuilt , Brown and Miller, FK Rod Ends, Hinchman Indy, Schoenfeld, Smith Precision Products, Kaeding Performance, Dan Olson Products, Vortex Wings, Amerikote, and GUTS for their support in 2016.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-21, Wins-4, Top 5’s-7, Top 10’s-10.

ON TAP: Croft will head to the Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday and Saturday night for the Fall Nationals.
