PETERSEN MEDIA: After enduring a tough tumble to start last Saturday’s feature event in Placerville, CA, Kyle Offill and the Country Builders Racing team have rebuilt and are ready to return to the ¼ mile bullring on Saturday night.
“Last Saturday was definitely disappointing,” Kyle Offill said. “We had a good night on Friday night, and Saturday things were going well until the accident, so I do have some confidence heading back to Placerville on Saturday night.”
After teaming up with Rod Tiner, Jr two weeks ago, Offill and company kicked their weekend off in Watsonville, CA last Friday night. Timing in fourth fastest in time trials amongst the 36 cars checked in.
Finishing fourth in his heat race, Offill would make his way into the Dash where a seventh-place finish put him in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event on what was a very slick and abrasive surface.
When the feature event rolled around, the surface would start taking rubber and Offill would find himself chasing it as he battled within the Top-10. Battling with the likes of Sean Becker and Colby Copeland, the Tracy, CA driver held his own as the rubber continued to go down.
Once in 11th, passing began to dwindle, as Offill would hang on to finish in the 11th position.
Traveling to Placerville Speedway last Saturday night, Offill would continue to gel with his new Crew Chief as he timed in 19th in time trials with 33 cars checked into the pits on this night.
Making a couple really nice moves in heat race action, a fourth-place finish transferred him into the feature event. That’s where the weekend went south.
When the feature event went green, contact down the backstretch sent Offill into the backstretch hillside resulting in a series of violent rollovers. While able to walk away, Offill’s weekend was over.
“I really have to commend all of the safety manufactures for their parts and equipment all doing their job,” Offill said. “It wasn’t an ideal situation, but unfortunately it is the ugly part of our spot. Luckily, we are able to try again on Saturday.
Kyle Offill would like to thank Country Builders, Ochoco West Lumber, Reliable Lumber, Boise Cascade, Inc., B rown and Miller, MAAS Brothers Powder Coating, Offill Family Farms, Tool Tech Construction Supply, HRP, FK Shocks, A.R.T. Enterprise, Hinchman Racewear, Maxim Chassis, and B. Scadden Design for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 10, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 0, Top 10’s: 1
ON TAP: Offill will return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
