Placerville Speedway Top-5 for Tanner Carrick

PETERSEN MEDIA: Fighting some lingering gremlins from last Sunday’s rollover during action on Friday night, Tanner Carrick and the Carrick Motorsports team would turn in another very strong showing at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night that saw the Lincoln, CA driver pocket a fourth-place finish.

“Friday night was a struggle,” Tanner Carrick said. “Going through things to get ready for Placerville on Saturday night, we found a few issues that we overlooked after our wreck at Petaluma, and it made a world of difference.”

While the result at Ocean Speedway was still a Top-10 by way of a seventh-place finish, Carrick felt like he struggled bad with how his season as gone at the facility all year.

Getting their car ready for Saturday night’s return to Placerville Speedway, the team discovered a few issues that were lingering from a roll over at Petaluma Speedway that would account for some of Carrick’s Friday night complaints.

Making changes, and heading to Placerville Speedway, Carrick opened the night up by timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 83T machine in fourth fastest amongst the 29 cars that were checked in for action.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Carrick would take care of business has his third-place finish moved him directly into the 25-lap feature event, but it also put him in the nightly redraw.

Lining up on the front row of the feature event after pulling the two, Carrick would get the jump when the green flag was displayed to the field.

On the reworked surface, Carrick looked very stout out front though he had the likes of Justin Sanders and Shane Golobic hot on his tail.

Leading the first nine circuits, a caution would bunch the field back up and put them in double file formation.

Battling with Justin Sanders for the race lead when the action came back to life, Carrick would fall back to second and actually hook up in a very entertaining battle with Golobic.

Fighting tooth and nail for position, a slight bobble on the closing laps would allow Golobic to get away and also allowed Ryan Bernal to sneak by to put Carrick in fourth when the checkered flag flew.

“We were good early on Saturday night, then I made a couple mistakes that cost us a few spots,” Carrick added. “Thanks to my guys for all their hard work, really excited for two more races ahead this weekend.”

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support
