PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending the end of 2017 and the start of 2018 competing in Western Australia, Parker Price-Miller has been very strong in his first tour down under as he has picked up a win, a second, and a fifth place finish as he leads the WA vs. USA Speedweek Points with one final night of action left on the docket.
“We have been really good all three nights, and hopefully we can have another strong night on Saturday and win this deal,” Parker Price-Miller said.
The Kokomo, IN driver’s journey down under kicked off on Boxing Day at the Perth Motorplex. Timing in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials, Price-Miller would score a pair of second place finishes during heat race action.
Finding himself in the fifth starting spot in the feature event, Price-Miller would get off to a nice start as he worked his way into the lead pack before taking over the race lead on the 12th circuit.
Running hard in traffic, Price-Miller would become involved in a tangle, though he would keep his machine under power and would retain the top spot. With some damage to his suspension, as well as struggling with his brakes after the incident, Price-Miller would hang on to score his first win in Australia in his first start in the country.
Traveling to Bunbury on December 29th, PPM would time in seventh quickest before finishing fourth in his first heat race. Making some adjustments to his machine before his second heat, ‘The Law Firm’ would score valuable points as he won his heat out of the third starting position.
Lining up in the fifth spot for the second consecutive night, Price Miller would quickly move into third as he set his sights on Jason Kendrick and Ryan Smith who ran in front of him.
Price-Miller would move into second with just eight laps to go as he tried feverishly to reel in Smith. Getting to Smith’s rear bumper late in the race, PPM could not get around him and would hang on to score a second place finish.
Ringing in 2018 back at the Motorplex in Perth, Price Miler would again time the Harding Motorsports entry in fifth quickest before picking up third and fourth place finishes in his heat race on a track that was tricky to make up ground on.
Lining up 11th in the ‘A’, the track still proved to be tricky, but the American driver was able to make the most of it and gain valuable speedweek points in doing so. Working his way forward, Price-Miller would finish in the fifth spot at the finish line.
With three out of four WA vs. USA Speedweek points completed, Price-Miller will head into Saturday night’s finale as the point leader with a four point cushion.
“We have had a lot of good speed thus far, and it is pretty cool to head into the finale as the point leader,” Price-Miller added. “I think if we can qualify a little better, it will put us in a really good position to finish this deal off. I have to thank everyone involved down here who has made this all possible.”
