PETERSEN MEDIA- Robbie Price had a very nice showing on Sunday night at the Marvin Smith Memorial in Cottage Grove, OR as he battled from his 15th starting position to finish in the fifth spot.
“We really struggled on Saturday night, but Sunday night we had a very good racecar,” Robbie Price said.
Checking in for the Marvin Smith Memorial finale on Sunday night, Price would race his way into the 41-lap feature event through his heat race, though would have his work cut out for him as he lined up in the eighth row.
An extremely slick and racy Cottage Grove Speedway gave Price and his team confidence they could run through the field after watching the rest of the preliminary events.
As the race came to life, Price was forced to simply put his machine where the others were not as he could make up ground using either using the cushion or the low side of the speedway.
A couple of early cautions would bunch the field up, and the Cobble Hill, BC driver would take advantage and grab a couple of spots on each restart. With the race settling into a fast pace, Price would battle with some stiff competition in the names of Kyle Hirst, and Willie Croft as he worked his way into the Top-Five.
The race’s final caution would fly with just six laps to go, and Price would spend the final laps battling with Justyn Cox for the fourth spot. Coming up just short of the fourth spot, Price would be pleased with his surge to fifth.
“To come from where we did with the drivers in the field was pretty special,” Price said. “I have to thank everyone who helped on the car all weekend long, because we got better each time we hit the track.”
Price and his team would like to thank Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal, Tiger Towing, Rod End Supply, Wildlight Photography, Shark Racing Engines, and Speedmart for their support during the 2016 season.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-20, Wins-1, Top-5’s-3, Top 10’s-8
