PETERSEN MEDIA- Running at the Skagit Speedway on Saturday night for the second leg of the Here 2 Wire Summer Thunder Series, Robbie Price thrilled the crowd as he used a last lap pass to pick up his second career win.
“It was another great night for this team at the Skagit Speedway, and I am really happy we were able to get another win,” Price said.
Timing his Raylle Auto Sales/Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal/Tiger Towing entry in second fastest, Price would finish fourth in his heat race, and earn a spot in the night’s redraw.
Finding himself on the pole of the feature event, Price would slip back to the third spot as the race got underway, as he chased after JJ Hickle and race leader, Reece Goetz. Getting into the second spot by the fourth lap, Price began reeling the leader in as they got into slower traffic.
Showing confidence in traffic, Price was able to keep Goetz in his sights, as he waited for an opportunity to pounce. With the leader on the bottom of the speedway, Price was running his machine on the ragged edge, as he kept his right-rear tire glued to the cushion.
In the race’s closing laps, Price made his move to grab the lead on the 28th circuit, but a slower car forced him to check up, as he slipped back to the second spot. With the white flag in the air, Price would go low in turns one and tow, to nose in front, and take the lead, and not look back, as he beat Goetz back to the checkered flag as he earned his second career win, with both coming at the Skagit Speedway.
“It was an exciting race, that is for sure,” Price said. “We have been really good lately, and it’s a testament to everyone who has gave me advice on driving, and who has helped us set the car up week after week.”
