PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the David Tarter Memorial in Chico, CA on Friday night, Justyn Cox and the Cox Racing team would experience steering issues that plagued them from start to finish.
“We just had steering issues all night and threw the kitchen sink at it, but still wasn’t able to get it right,” Cox said. “We just can’t seem to catch a break at 410ci races so far this season.”
Taking to the Silver Dollar Speedway for time trials with no power steering, Cox would time the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine seventh fastest, and find himself on the front row of his heat race.
Fighting issues and trying to make repairs, Cox would be unable to make it out in time for his heat race, and would line up 16th in the feature event. Thinking the problem was rectified, Cox would make a handful of laps in the 25-lap ‘A’, but steering would be come an issue again, and his night would get cut short as he opted to pull back to the pits.
“We thrashed, and ended up with some air in our steering box so steering got tough again in the feature,” Cox said. “With that behind us now we look forward to Calistoga. It is a great track with a really neat atmosphere and a ton of work has gone into this Saturday’s event.”
The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, EyeLusions, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2017!
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-19, Wins-2, Top 5’s-4, Top 10’s-9
ON TAP: Justyn Cox will be back in action on Saturday night at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, CA.
