PETERSEN MEDIA- Traveling to Silver Dollar Speedway for the first time in 2017 to take part in the Fall Nationals- A Tribute To Stephen Allard, Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would find themselves in early holes during both nights of action after time trials.
With a loaded field of cars checked into the pit area for the 25th Annual Fall Nationals, DeCaires would time the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Thompson’s Auto Center/RedHawk Casino backed No. 4SA machine in 16th quickest in his qualifying flight.
Lining up eighth in his heat race on a locked down surface early in the night, the Elk Grove, CA native would finish seventh, which placed him in the 12th row of the B Main with only four drivers moving into the feature event.
From his sixth row starting position, DeCaires would get up on the wheel as he drove like a man possessed. Carving his way forward, DeCaires would come up short on a transfer but impressed as he worked his way up to sixth.
Making some adjustments after night one, the team returned to action on Saturday night hoping for improvements. Timing in 12th quickest in their flight on this night, the NAAKE Suspension/A.R.T. Speed Equipment/King Racing Products machine would line up in the sixth starting position in heat race number two.
On a racy surface early in the night, DeCaires would battle with Kyle Hirst and Justyn Cox for the final transfer into the feature event. Amongst the three-horse race to the finish, DeCaires would be on the outside looking in as he finished seventh.
Taking the green flag from the ninth starting spot in the semi, DeCaires would again move forward as he fought hard for a spot in the Tribute to SA feature. Fighting for the fourth and final transfer position with Cody Hodgson, DeCaires would come up just short as his fifth place finish in the semi would end his weekend.
