Robbie Price Fifth at Skagit Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Planning on making his dirt debut in Canada over the weekend, Robbie Price and his team made a last minute decision to forego the trip and compete at the Skagit Speedway where he would go on and finish fifth during his final tune up for the World of Outlaws northwest invasion.

“It was nice to get back on the dirt, but I made some mistakes that probably cost us a better finish,” Robbie Price said.

Checking in at the Skagit Speedway in Alger, WA, Price timed the Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal/Tiger Towing/Rod End Supply backed No. 21 machine in sixth fastest before picking up a win during his heat race.

Finding himself on the front row of the 25-lap feature event, Price would slip back into the second spot as pole sitter, Evan Margeson would get the jump. On an extremely slick Skagit Speedway surface, Price would make a couple of early attempts to get the top spot but his advances would be denied.

Taking a liking to the top of the speedway, Price would try to make grip but would see a few drivers work their way past him. Continuing to pound the top, Price would find himself back in the fifth spot before he worked his way back to the bottom groove where the rest of the field was working.

Falling back in behind Jason Solwold, Price would close in on he and Bud Ashe as they duked it out for the third spot just ahead of him. Closing in on the duo, Price would run out of time as the checkered flag would fly on the quick 25-lap feature with Price in the fifth spot.

“I just spent too much time up top, and it let too many guys get by,” Price said. “We got going late in the race, but it was too little too late.”

Price and his team would like to thank Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal, Tiger Towing, Rod End Supply, Wildlight Photography, Shark Racing Engines, and Speedmart for their support during the 2016 season.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-37, Wins-3, Top-5’s-9, Top 10’s-15
