PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing aboard the potent Jim and Annette Van Lare No. 5v over the weekend at the Fall Nationals, Robbie Price would have an up and down weekend but was still able to have fun with a new team.
“It was a great weekend racing with Jim and Annette Van Lare,” Robbie Price said. “We all wish our results could have been a little better, but I still had fun.”
Kicking the two-day Fall Nationals off on Friday night, Price would time the Bianchi Farms/ Cameron and Cameron Ranch and Vineyard Supply/VSR entry in 16th fastest in time trials.
A questionable false start call during his heat race would knock him off the front row, and he would end up slipping back to the fifth spot after slight contact knocked him out of a transfer position.
Lining up fifth in the semi, Price would need to stay in the Top-Six to move into the feature event and he did just that as a fourth place run punched his ticket into the 25-lap feature.
Lining up 20th in the feature, Price was able to make some progress forward after the race got going. With the first seven lamps hampered by stoppages, lap eight-23 would click off fast paced allowing Price to settle in.
A final restart with two-laps to go would see Price make a move to secure the 15th spot at the finish line.
Seeing the field swell to 52 cars on Saturday night, the field would be split into the qualifying flights and Price would end up 15th fastest in the first flight.
Lining up eighth in his heat race, Price would pick up a few spots as he finished in the sixth position, just one out of a direct transfer to the feature event.
Going into the B Main, the Cobble Hill, BC driver would grid the field from the 11th starting spot. Falling back to 13th as the race came to life, Price settled in and got moving forward in a hurry. Working his way up to the sixth spot, Price got to battling for the final transfer position into the 40-lapper, but with two laps to go Price’s machine would get out of shape and as it pointed sideways he opted to pull into the infield and call it a night.
“It was a little disappointing to not make the feature on Saturday night, but it was our first weekend in a different car,” Price said. “Again, I really want to thank Jim and Annette Van Lare for all they did for me over the weekend, as well as thank all of their guys for their hard work. I am looking forward to trying to grow with them.”
Price and his team would like to thank Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal, Tiger Towing, Rod End Supply, Wildlight Photography, Shark Racing Engines, and Speedmart for their support during the 2016 season.
