PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking to put take advantage of a successful run at Skagit Speedway thus far in 2017 with the ASCS National Tour coming to town for the Dirt Cup, Robbie Price would get off to a nice start on Thursday before his weekend came to a rough ending on Saturday night.
“We got off to a pretty good start to Dirt Cup on Thursday night, but it went downhill quickly after that,” Price said. “It is disappointing to have our weekend end the way it did, but we will try again at Elma this weekend.”
Battling the stars and cars of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour for the three-day extravaganza, Price’s weekend would open up Thursday as he charged from the sixth starting spot in his heat race to gain valuable points by way of his third place finish.
Losing a position during his qualifier, Price would just miss out on earning enough points to qualify for the feature event, and would instead find himself on the pole of the ‘B’.
Finishing in the second position, Price would punch his ticket to the preliminary night feature event where he lined the Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal/Wheeler Paint Works/Rod End Supply No. 21p up in the 20th starting position.
On the racy Skagit Speedway, Price would run well for the local contingent as he was able to slice and dice his way through the field to record a 12th place finish.
Friday night would not go as well for Price and his team. Starting and finishing fifth during heat race action, the Cobble Hill, BC pilot would get into the wall during his qualifier and be forced to the pit area.
Finding himself in the third row of the ‘B’ main, Price would work his way into the third and final transfer position and again punch his ticket into the preliminary night feature event.
Unable to get going in the feature, Price would be stuck in the back of the pack as he would end up finishing in the 20th position.
Saturday night’s finale saw Price line up on the pole of the semi and in a really good spot to earn a spot in the Dirt Cup finale.
Getting loose on the race’s initial start, contact from behind him would spin his car all the around and Price would be tagged by a hose of other cars and his Dirt Cup would come to a close.
“I have to thank everyone who helped us out all weekend,” Price said. “We will rebuild and take on the ASCS National Tour this weekend in Elma and try for a better result.”
Price and his team would like to thank Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal, Wheeler Paint Works, Rod End Supply, Wildlight Photography, and Shark Racing Engines for their support during the 2017 season.
