PETERSEN MEDIA- A change of plans for Robbie Price over the weekend saw him make his pavement sprint car debut as he was in action during the Strawberry Cup in Victoria, BC over the weekend.
“I was really pleased with how everything went considering I didn’t get in the car until Wednesday to practice,” Robbie Price said.
Climbing aboard the Rendel-Mansell entry on Friday night, Price would get his night started off in fine fashion as he timed in fourth fastest during qualifications, before finishing third in his heat race.
Moving into the dash, the Cobble Hill, BC pilot would finish in the second spot, and start the feature event from the front row.
As the race went green, Price would settle into the second spot, as he continued to acclimate to the pavement. Hitting his marks and hanging with the leader all race long, Price would slip back to the third spot on a late restart, and close his debut with a podium finish.
“We had a really great run on Friday night considering circumstances, and that actually prompted us to run the second night, which we were not planning on,” Price added.
Timing in sixth fastest on Saturday night, Price would finish in the fourth spot during heat race action.
In the feature event, Price would again have a great run going as he raced comfortably in the top-five during much of the event. In the fourth spot, Price would see an opening to move into the third spot, but as he dove low, he would make contact with a competitors left rear and his machine would roll over.
Get the car back upright, Price would restart the race and salvage his night with a sixth place effort.
“I really have to thank everyone on the Rendel-Mansell Motorsports team for this opportunity,” Price said. “It was a great weekend and I am happy we ran well. I also have to thank my grandfather for putting this entire deal together.”
Price and his team would like to thank Raylle Auto Sales, Millstone Heating and Sheet Metal, Tiger Towing, Rod End Supply, Northwest School of Martial Arts, Shark Racing Engines, and Speedmart for their support during the 2015 season.
