PETERSEN MEDIA: Coming oh so close to his first win of the season over Memorial Day Weekend, Robert Ballou made a last minute decision to head to Paragon Speedway on Saturday count as he was able to breakthrough at win the Amati Classic.

“I am glad we decided to head out, because we had a great racecar and we were able to win the 68-lap feature event,” Robert Ballou said. “We have been so close with this car, and with us getting this first one hopefully we can start reeling some more off.”

Lining up seventh in his heat race, ‘The Mad Man’ flexed his muscle early in the night as he put on a clinic in his heat race. Working through cars at will, Ballou would make an early statement as he carved his way to a second place finish.

Moving into the 68-lap feature event, the Rocklin, CA native turned Indiana resident would like the Dickinson Farms/Lucas Oil Products/Abreu Vineyards backed No. 12 entry up in the third row.

The long race saw Ballou take in easy in the first part of the race as he worked the low groove and ran in the second position as he chased after Aaron Farney. Continuing to bide his time, a surging Dave Darland would make the high-side work and once he blew around Ballou, Ballou would then get his elbows up.

Seeing that the high-side was working, Ballou would follow suit as he went to work up top and got by Farney for second and had Darland in his crosshairs. Working the top, the leaders would continue to run through traffic and it would seemingly benefit Ballou who was able to see what Darland chose to do in front of him.

With just a few laps left in the race, Ballou would make his move as he would get the better of Darland and hang on to claim his first feature event win of the season.

“With the race being that long you had to play it smart,” Ballou said. “We were really patient early as we chased after Farney, but once Darland blew my doors off I knew it was time to go. We had a really fast racecar and it is great to get this thing in victory lane.”

Robert Ballou would like to thank Dickinson Farms, Lucas Oil Products, Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Unique Breedz, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, and Bell Helmets for their support.
