PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to reacclimate himself to a winged car in 2020 by competing with the PA Posse, Robert Ballou got one final pre Speedweek test session in on Saturday night as he visited Port Royal Speedway.
“We continue to work at it, and I am continuing to get comfortable with Don Ott,” Robert Ballou said. “We struggled early in the night, got it really good for the ‘B’, then missed it in the ‘A’, but we were able to learn from it.”
Checking in at ‘The Speed Palace’ on Saturday following Friday rain at Williams Grove, Ballou would pick up a seventh-place finish in heat race action as he would be forced into the ‘B’.
Making some wholesale changes following heat race competition, Ballou would have a very comfortable car underneath him in the semi, and it showed as he went on to pick up the win going away and punched his ticket into the feature event.
Continuing to fine tune the Abreu Vineyards/Don Ott Racing Engines/JE Pistons backed No. 12 machine, Ballou admitted they went a little too far and it made things tricky in the feature event.
On the slick surface, Ballou would struggle to make grip as he spent much of the race in the back of the pack. Staying at it and getting more seat time heading into upcoming PA Speedweek, Ballou would finish 23rd.
“I am looking forward to this upcoming stretch,” Ballou said. “I think it will be good for our team to race a lot and get really acclimated with each other. It’ll be tough, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Robert Ballou would like to thank Abreu Vineyards, Deaton’s Waterfront Service, Rossie Feed and Grain, Berks Western Telecom, Inc., MPHG Promotion, Suburban Subaru, Jamie Davidson Scrap Metal, Twister-X, Hinchman Indy, Don Ott Racing Engines, Manvel Motorsports, Blakesley Auto, Olson Custom Design, Konnected Clothing, Hooker Harness, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, Schoenfeld Headers, ISC Racers Tape, Chalk Racing Products, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, Moose Blocks, Inc., JE Pistons, AO Designs, and Arai Helmets for their support.
