PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading back to the Placerville Speedway to take part in the track’s season finale even on Saturday night, Matt Peterson was looking to continue a strong of good finishes at the ¼ mile bullring, but the night would simply not go how Peterson had hoped.
“It was a tough night for our team,” Peterson said. “We had some issues in our heat, and got off to a really good start in the main, but then it went down hill again.”
Timing the Miller Lite/V&H Fresh/Inventory Sales Company No. p37 machine in 17th fastest in time trials, Peterson would get collected in a heat race wreck, and be forced to grid the 25-lap feature event from the ninth row.
When the race came to life, the Wilton, CA driver got off to a very nice start as he was able to work his way forward at will. Working toward the Top-10 in the first 10-laps of the race, Peterson would get collected in a wreck while running in the 11th spot.
Going to back to of the pack, Peterson would restart the feature event, but after a few laps, issues under the hood would force the Future Energy Savers/Transportation Services/Vahlco Wheels machine to the pit area, as he brought his night to an early end.
“We just were in the wrong place at the wrong time, it seemed,” Peterson said. “We had a really good car, and that allowed us to move forward early in the race, but we got collected again. It was a tough night, but I am very appreciative of all of the people who continue to support me and this team.”
