PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to racing in California after taking part in the Knoxville Nationals, a second place finish on Friday night in Stockton, CA would highlight Willie Croft’s KWS Speedweek.

“Our first couple nights of Speedweek weren’t all that great, but things went pretty well for us in Stockton, CA,” Willie Croft said. “We ran second to Bud on Friday night, and closed the week out with a Top-10 on Saturday night.”

Kicking the week off on Wednesday night at Placerville Speedway, the Roseville, CA driver known as ‘Double Down’, would time in sixth quickest in time trials before a sixth place finish in the heat relegated him into the semi.

Running second in the ‘B’, Croft would move into the ‘A’ where he took the green flag from the eighth starting position. On the slick surface, Croft would bounce around the Top-10 before capping the night off with an 11thplace finish.

Thursday night in Chico, CA would see Croft get upside down in the opening laps of the feature event and it would bring his night to an early end as then turned his attention to Stockton Dirt Track.

Kicking two nights of racing action at Stockton Dirt Track off on Friday night, Croft would time in eighth quickest in time trials before racing to a heat race win.

Finishing second in the Dash to Bud Kaeding, Croft would find himself on the front row of the 30-lap feature event on a very hooked up Stockton Dirt Track racing surface.

With Kaeding getting the jump, Croft would settle into second as he chased after the leader on a lightning fast surface. Having his hands full with Tim Kaeding in the closing stages of the race, Croft would remain calm and capitalize on traffic as he would reclaim the second position.

Unable to get to Kaeding, Croft closed Friday night out with a second place finish as he would look to build off the momentum heading into Saturday’s finale.

Timing in sixth quickest in time trials on Saturday night, Croft would garner a fourth place finish in his heat race as he moved into the feature event where he would take the green flag from the eighth starting position.

On a very slick racing surface that would soon take rubber, Croft would maintain his position inside the Top-10 as tire wear would soon be an issue.

Keeping his tires underneath him for all 30-laps, Croft capped the week, and the night, with a Top-10 by way of his ninth place finish.

“Big thanks to all of my guys for working so hard for me during a busy week,” Croft said. “It’s now a really busy time of the year for us, so hopefully we continue to make good decisions and pick up some good finishes coming up.”
