PETERSEN MEDIA- Making the trip to the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night, Ryan Bernal and his Mike Phulps Motorsports team picked up a fourth place finish after starting in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.
“It was a fun night at the track, and I thought we stayed really consistent all night long,” Ryan Bernal said.
Getting his night started off by timing the Keizer Wheels/DMI/S&S Automotive No. 56 machine timed in second fastest, the Hollister, CA driver would line up in the second row of the night’s second heat race.
Jumping into the second spot, Bernal would hound Brad Bumgarner as he searched for the heat race win. Staying on Bumganer’s rear bumper for much of the race, Bernal would finish in the second spot and move into the nightly redraw for the feature event.
Finding himself with the six-pill, Bernal would grid the field from the third row for the 25-lap feature event. Running up front and chasing after Jonathan Allard in the early stages of the race, Bernal would soon feel pressure from a hard charging, Sean Becker.
With Becker getting around Bernal for the third spot, Bernal would not give up on the defending track champion, as he worked for the podium position. Giving Becker all he could handle, Bernal would close his night out by coming across the stripe with a fourth place finish.
“It has been good for us in the winged car lately,” Bernal added. “I am having fun, my guys are working hard, and we are getting better night after night. I am excited to get down to Hanford, CA on Friday night and run the Murphy Classic on Saturday night in Tulare, CA.
Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2014 season.
