PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to Tulare, CA over the weekend to make up the rain delayed Peter Murphy Classic with the KWS on Saturday night where he ran fourth, Ryan Bernal and Tarlton Motorsports also competed at the track on Friday night with USAC and scored a third place finish.
“It was a good weekend for the race team,” Bernal said. “We had another good non wing run on Friday night which was a blast, and on Saturday I finally got us timed in well and it made our night a little easier.”
Saturday night with the King of the West Series, Bernal timed the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum backed No. 21 machine in third quickest in time trials.
Running fourth in his heat race, the Hollister, CA driver would moved into the feature event where he would grid the field from the seventh position after just missing out on a spot in the Pole Shuffle.
On a racy Thunderbowl Raceway surface, Bernal was able to move forward and wage war for position inside the Top-Five. Fighting with the likes of Dominic Scelzi and DJ Netto, Bernal capped another strung run with the KWS out with a fourth place finish.
Friday night the team was also in action as they shed the wings, and battled with the USAC West Coast 360’s.
Timing in third quickest in qualifying time trials, Bernal would run fourth in his heat race. Jumping into second in the feature event, Bernal would chase after Tristan Guardino in what turned out to be a nonstop, 30-lap affair.
As he chased after the leader, Bernal would feel pressure from Austin Liggett who ran just behind in the third position. Trying to fend Liggett off, Bernal would lose second at the finish line .003, and settle for a third place finish.
“The more we get to race together, the better we get,” Ryan Bernal said. “Thanks to the Tarlton family, Paul Baines, and everyone who works on this car.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, NOS Energy Drink, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.
