PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing to be a model of constancy with the King of the West Series, Ryan Bernal’s runner up finish on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway was enough to propel him into the series point lead as the schedule ramps up with Summer upon us.
“I can’t thank the Tarlton Motorsports team enough,” Bernal said. “They gave me a great car, probably one that was good enough to win, I just didn’t get the job done but still a really good finish.”
Timing the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum backed No. 21 entry in third fastest in qualifying time trials before surging to the all important heat race win.
Picking up a fourth place finish in the Dash, the Hollister, CA driver would roll off the starting grid from the second row on the slick Placerville Speedway racing surface.
When the race came to life, Bernal noted he would biding his time early as he let the race come to him, and let the surface change after a pre race maintenance session took place.
Coming to life during the back half of the 30-lap affair, Bernal would find himself in the thick of things with Justin Sanders and Sean Becker as they all chased after leader, Andy Forsberg in dense traffic.
In the race’s final laps, Bernal was able to move into third as he stalked the lead duo. When Justin Sanders made his move for the lead on the 29th circuit, Bernal too capitalized and jumped into second as he got by Forsberg.
Hanging on to finish second, Bernal now find himself atop the KWS season long point standings.
“I get more and more comfortable in the winged 410 with each race, and it is a big testament to the Tarlton Motorsports crew,” Bernal said. “We will get one of these things very soon, and I can’t wait to do so for the Tarlton family.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, NOS Energy Drink, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.
