PETERSEN MEDIA- By virtue of his late July triumph at Petaluma Speedway, Ryan Bernal was locked into Saturday night’s Adobe Cup feature event where he would proceed to pocket a third place finish.
“We are still figuring this new engine out, but we are really pleased with a podium at Adobe Cup,” Ryan Bernal said. “We have been really strong with the winged car as of late and I hope we can keep that going.”
Finding himself with the four pill after the Dash redraw, the Hollister, CA pilot would go on to finish fifth in the Dash, and put his Keizer Wheels/DMI/S&S Automotive backed No. 56 in the third row of the feature event.
The first seven laps of the 30-lap A Main were hampered by stoppages, and Bernal would find himself up in the fifth spot when the race got into a good flow. On a very racy Petaluma Speedway, Bernal was able to patently work his way forward as traffic would be tough to work through at times.
Finding himself in the fourth spot on the 19th lap when a caution would fly, Bernal would take over the third spot on lap 21 when second running Willie Croft had issues.
Working on Geoff Ensign for the runner up spot when the race came back to life, Bernal would get the spot on the 29th lap, but still in traffic he would fall back to third on the race’s final lap as he would pick up a third place finish in the Adobe Cup feature event.
“It got a little crazy out there at times, but overall it was a good night for our team,” Bernal added. “My guys work so hard and really make me comfortable in this thing. With the Placerville Shootout and Trophy Cup on the horizon, I am really hoping we can continue to run up front.”
Bernal and the Mike Phulps Motorsports team would like to thank Keizer Wheels, DMI, S&S Automotive, King Racing Products, Metal Works, Hoosier Racing Tires, Core Power, ART Chassis, Tri-L Mandarin Ranch, Tel-Tac, Willwood, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Permatex, Alan Kaiser Construction, Outlaw Graphics, BR Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, STIDA, Rockwell Security, ButlerBuilt, GoScope, 4 Alarm Promotions, and Dean Dealy Motorsports for their support during the 2016 season.
