PETERSEN MEDIA: Justin Sanders had his elbows up on Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway, as he worked his way up to a 10th place finish after gridding the field from the 11th row with the Civil War Series.
Going out early in qualifications hurt Sanders a touch, as he wound up timing in 22nd fastest with 30 cars on hand.
Running fifth in his heat, Sanders narrowly missed the direct transfer into the feature event, and lined up ninth in the night’s B Main.
Working his way forward, the Prunedale, CA driver was able to get into the fifth spot, and safely transfer into the 30-lap main event, though he would have his work cut out for him, as he lined up in the 21st position.
In the early stages of the race, Sanders worked around the speedway aboard the Warrington No. 18, and found himself in the 14th spot, when the race reached the halfway point.
With 10 laps to go, Sanders had gotten around Bradley Terrell and Kyler Shaw to get into the 11th spot, and following a lap 25 restart, he was able to gain another position, as he worked into the 10th spot where he would go on to finish.
Friday night saw Sanders in action at the Placerville Speedway where he got his night off to a great start, as he timed in third fastest.
Getting through his heat race with a third place finish, Sanders found himself with an eight pill after the redraw, putting him in the fourth row for the feature event.
On an extremely slick track for the feature event, Sanders would end up with an 11th place finish after battling with the likes of James Sweeney and Mike Benson at the end of the race.
“Placerville was a little rough with us pulling the high pill, and track being a little rough to pass on, and at Petaluma everyone did a great job working hard all night after time trials,” he said. “To come from 21st to 10th is pretty cool, and hopefully we can get back to Watsonville this weekend, and start our night a little better.”
Justin Sanders would like to thank North County Plastering, G&N Construction, STS Trucking, Lancaster Locksmith, Village Glass. Lufos Kustom Designs, Taco Bravo, LRB Race Products, Petersen Media, Fire Protection Management, Dirt Solution, Bob Tweedy, Ron Gravelle.
