PETERSEN MEDIA: With the Placerville Speedway taking the week off, Justin Sanders was only in action on Friday night, though he made it count as he charged to a seventh place finish on the fast surface.

“We ran well, and even though the result isn’t what we wanted, our car felt really good, and we are very pleased,” he said.

With 22 cars on hand, Sanders was the first out for time trials, and ended up 11th fastest, earning him a front row starting spot in heat race action.

Losing the drag race to Heath Duinkerken in the heat, Sanders settled for second, where he would finish, but found himself starting in the 11th spot rather than anywhere in the Top-Eight should he have won his heat.

“We couldn’t take advantage of our heat spot, because our engine wasn’t taking off great,” he explained.

Lining up in the sixth row for the feature event, Sanders was able to maneuver around the choppy, and fast surface, as he slowly gained ground.

On the dicey surface, the Prunedale, CA driver was able to make some moves, and when all was said and done, he brought the North County Plastering/G&N Construction/STS Trucking No. 17 machine home with a seventh place finish.

“We got our car a lot better, and that is huge,” he said. “We haven’t been as good as we wanted in the 17 car all year, so we are gaining on it for sure.”

Justin Sanders would like to thank North County Plastering, G&N Construction, STS Trucking, Lancaster Locksmith, Village Glass. Lufos Kustom Designs, Taco Bravo, LRB Race Products, Petersen Media, Fire Protection Management, Dirt Solution, Bob Tweedy, Ron Gravelle. Keener Auto Body, and  Dave Haver Racing Engines for their continued support.

ON TAP: Sanders will head to the Stockton Dirt Track on Friday night aboard his own No. 17 machine before climbing back aboard Rudy Warrington’s No. 18 machine on Saturday night at the Placerville Speedway.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-19, Wins-3, Top-5’s-8, Top-10’s-12
