PETERSEN MEDIA: Closing out weekly action at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Prunedale, CA driver, Justin Sanders, climbed atop his wing and saluted the crowd, as he pocketed his fifth win of the season.
“It was an awesome year at Placerville for the entire team, and it is really cool to pick up our fifth win of the year, and end the season second in points,” Sanders said.
With 27 cars on hand for the weekly season’s final event of the 2014 season, Sanders kicked his night off by timing his machine in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Starting in the second row of the fourth heat race, Sanders would finish in the fourth spot, earning a spot in the night’s 25-lap feature event.
Just missing out on the redraw, Sanders lined the F&W Racing No. 18 machine up in the fifth row of the feature event, and took advantage of a caution that collected a trio of cars ahead of him.
When the racing action finally got underway, Sanders was hard on the loud pedal as he quickly began making some moves on the tight ¼ mile bullring, as he surged his way forward.
Working into the second spot, Sanders set his sights on race leader, Andy Forsberg, as the leaders worked in heavy traffic. Stalking Forsberg’s every move, Sanders would take advantage of a bobble on the 19th lap, as he took command of the race and never looked back.
Flawless over the final six laps of the race, Sanders would cruise to his fifth win of the season, and would also capture second in the track championship standings in doing so.
“Like I said at the beginning of the season, my goal was to win a race at Placerville this year, and to win five, and finish second in the standings is pretty cool, and I can’t thank everyone involved for making this possible,’ he said. “We have one more race at Placerville next week with the Civil War Series, and I would really like to make it our sixth win of the year.”
Justin Sanders would like to thank North County Plastering, G&N Construction, STS Trucking, Lancaster Locksmith, Village Glass. Lufos Kustom Designs, Taco Bravo, LRB Race Products, Petersen Media, Fire Protection Management, Dirt Solution, Bob Tweedy, Ron Gravelle. Keener Auto Body, and Dave Haver Racing Engines for their continued support.
