PETERSEN MEDIA- Despite getting upside down on the opening night of the Trophy Cup, Justin Sanders bounced back nicely on Friday and Saturday and ended up with a 10th place finish in the feature and placed him 9th in the final point standings.
“It was by far my best Trophy Cup, and I really have to thank Dale Miller and his team for sticking behind me after getting upside down on Friday night,” Justin Sanders said.
Getting over in the Thursday night feature, Friday night saw Sanders come out swinging as he would time in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials. Racing his way up to a third place finish in his heat, Sanders would move into the feature event where he would look to have a big night for Trophy Cup Points.
Doing just that, the Aromas, CA driver would score a fifth place finish in the 30-lapper and sat eighth in points heading into the Saturday night finale.
Picking up a couple of spot in his heat race, Sanders’ fifth place finish would see him in the 10thspot on points, locking him into the 50-lap feature event.
Lining up 11thin the feature event, Sanders would turn in a solid performance in the championship finale. Working his way up inside the Top-10 at times during the race, Sanders would lose a couple of spots and fall out of the Top-10 at times with action all over the track.
Working his way back into 10thas he battled with Kyle Hirst and Cory Eliason late in the feature, Sanders’ 10thplace finish in the race put him 9thin the final point standings.
“Happy with how the weekend turned out, and I really just have to thank Dale and this team for all of their hard work,” Sanders said. “It is a cool event, and it was cool to see the place packed all weekend too.”
