PETERSEN MEDIA: Justin Sanders is off to a very strong start with the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster in 2015 as the Watsonville, CA driver backed up a third place finish on opening night, by scoring another third place finish at the Petaluma Speedway during the series’ second event of the season.
“I don’t typically do too great at Petaluma, but we had some luck on our side in the feature event, and ended up on the podium again,” Sanders said.
Going out early for time trials, Sanders would time in on a surface that was a tick slippery, and it resulted in him ultimately timing the F&W Racing No. 18 machine 19th fastest.
Scoring a fourth place finish in heat race action, Sanders would transfer his machine directly into the feature event, though he would ultimately find himself in the seventh row for the 30-lap finale.
The start of the race saw Sanders pick up a couple of spots before a huge wreck exiting turn two shook things up a bit, and Sanders would restart in the fourth spot with one lap in the books.
Running in the fourth spot, Sanders would chase after Robbie Price during much of the feature event, as he looked to crack the top three, and go after Bradley Terrell and Jake Haulot.
A couple of restarts, however, would work to Sanders’ advantage as he was able to get the third spot from Price, and keep it as he would close his night on a high note.
“I typically like tracks that are a little bit more technical, and it was pretty sticky and hooked up at Petaluma,” he added. “We rebounded nicely, and I can’t thank everyone who helps on this thing for all of their hard work and support.
ON TAP: Sanders will return to action on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA for the Ocean Sprints season opening event before returning to the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night.
