PETERSEN MEDIA: The hottest 360ci driver in Northern California might just be Watsonville, CA wheelman, Justin Sanders, as he continues to show consistency by picking up two more podium finishes over the weekend.

“Things are really clicking right now, and we have been really strong in both cars so far this year,” Justin Sanders said.

Friday night, Sanders was in action at his home track, the Ocean Speedway, and got things started off by timing his JSR No. 17 machine in fifth fastest before picking up a second place finish.

Pulling an eight in the redraw, Sanders had a very strong racecar on what was a wide and slick racing surface. From his fourth row starting spot, Sanders was able to work his way up to the second spot, as he battled with Dominic Scelzi, as both drivers chased after race leader, Brad Furr.

Sitting in the second spot on the 24th lap, during the race’s final caution, Sanders would slip back to fourth when the race came back to life, but in the closing laps was able to get by Dustin Golobic to grab a third place finish, and take over the Ocean Sprints points lead to go along with the Marysville Raceway Points lead, and second in Civil War standings.

With rain cancelling most of California’s Saturday night racing options, Sanders and his team elected to make the trip to the Antioch Speedway for a night of racing.

Lining up sixth in his heat race, Sanders flexed his muscle early in the night, as he worked his way up to the second spot, where he would finish, lining him up in the third row of the feature event.

From his sixth starting spot, Sanders would take a liking to the high-side of the speedway as he had his right-rear tire just inches from the wall, as he got his machine into the second spot, as he flanked Alissa Geving.

With the laps clicking off, Sanders would make a pass for the lead, only to have the yellow fly, and negate his move, and place him back in the second spot. The ensuing restart would see Sanders’ machine stumble, and Geving would get away, as Sanders closed his weekend out with a very strong second place showing.

“I think we had a good enough car to win both nights, but restarts, and cautions did not go our way,” he added. “I just want to thank everyone that helps out, and continues to support this JSR car.”

ON TAP: Justin Sanders will be back in action on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.
