PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking the wheel of the Rudy Warrington owned No.18 machine over the weekend in Chico, CA for the Fall Nationals, Justin Sanders showed some very good speed as he was able to work his way from the back both night’s to score 11th and 12th place finishes.

“We had some good speed both night’s, and were able to pass a lot of cars,” Sanders explained. “We came from the B and the back of the A on a really hooked up track on Friday night, and on Saturday we had some bad luck running up front, but were able rally.”

With 52 cars checking into the pit area for the Saturday night finale in Chico, CA, Sanders timed the F&W Racing No. 18 machine in third fastest, before scoring a third place finish in heat race action.

Lining up on the front row of the dash, Sanders jumped out to the lead on the first lap, but slipped back to second as Shane Golobic got by him. Contact with Jonathan Allard on the opening lap of the race left Sanders with a broken shock, but the Prunedale, CA driver was able to hang on and finish in the third spot.

Lining up for the 40-lap feature event in the second row by way of his dash finish, Sanders slipped back to the fifth spot when the action got underway.

Following a caution on the sixth lap, Sanders took advantage of the ensuing restarts, as he got by Andy Forsberg and Kyle Hirst to jump into the third spot, where he would run when the caution again flew on the 12th lap.

On this restart, Sanders bounced through a hole on the technical track, and slid off the edge of the speedway, bringing out the caution, putting himself at the tail end of the field.

From the back of the pack, Sanders never gave up, as he worked around the slicked off Silver Dollar Speedway to score an 11th place finish.

“We were really fast, and I think we might have had something for Becker and Golobic if I wouldn’t have got out of shape on that restart,” he added.

Friday night, drivers were greeted with a very fast and rough surface, and Sanders got his weekend off to a tough start as he timed in 24th fastest, missing the heat race inversion.

Finishing fifth in his heat race, Sanders did not make the direct transfer to the feature event, though a second place run in the night’s B Main would put him in the show, though he would line up 21st in the feature event.

With the track still being very fast in the feature event, Sanders had his elbows up, as he worked his way through traffic to score a 12th place finish at the stripe.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for working hard, and giving me such a great car on both nights,” he said. “We have had good speed all year, and are starting to click again like we did earlier in the year with some big races on our schedule.”

Justin Sanders would like to thank North County Plastering, G&N Construction, STS Trucking, Lancaster Locksmith, Village Glass. Lufos Kustom Designs, Taco Bravo, LRB Race Products, Petersen Media, Fire Protection Management, Dirt Solution, Bob Tweedy, Ron Gravelle.
