Sanders Scores Second Place Finish at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to the Marysville Raceway after scoring the season opening event two-weeks ago, Justin Sanders continued to show great speed at the facility as he scored a second place finish, and has a ton of confidence at the track heading into this weeks Civil War Series opener.

“It is great to have so much speed at Marysville early in the season,” Sanders said. “With the Civil War opener there this week, hopefully we can get our season with them started off just as good as it has been going there.”

Timing in second quickest during time trials with 20 cars checked into the pit area, the Watsonville, CA resident would finish second in heat race action, making him eligible for the night’s redraw.

Lining up in the second row for the feature event, Sanders would work his way up into the second spot, as he chased after leader Bud Wallberg, while battling with a hard charging Andy Forsberg.

With Sanders pressuring Wallberg for the top spot, Forsberg would get by both to take the lead, as Sanders moved into the second spot, and chased after ‘Mr. Excitement.”

On the 21st lap, the caution would fly bunching the field back up, but the restart saw Forsberg get away from Sanders, as he held on to the second spot at the finish line.

“The track was pretty fast, and we were just a little to snug,” Sanders said. “I have to thank the guys for continuing to give us a fast racecar, and like I said, we are all really looking forward to the Civil War opener.”

Justin Sanders would like to thank North County Plastering, G&N Construction, STS Trucking, Lancaster Locksmith, Village Glass. Lufos Kustom Designs, Taco Bravo, LRB Race Products, Petersen Media, Fire Protection Management, Dirt Solution, Bob Tweedy, Ron Gravelle. Keener Auto Body, and  Dave Haver Racing Engines for their continued support.

ON TAP: Sanders will be back in action on Friday night at the Marysville Raceway for the Civil War Series opener.
