PETERSEN MEDIA- Piloting Dale Miller’s No. 4SA machine, a car that pays tribute to Stephen Allard at the Fall Nationals, a race that pays tribute to Stephen Allard, Justin Sanders was able to battle for the win on Saturday night before coming home with a second place finish.

“This is one of those races I really want to win for Dale Miller and his team,” Justin Sanders said. “It is great to run second, and get on the podium, but we really wanted to be one spot better. Still, after getting upside down on Friday, this was a really good way to end our weekend and our season at Silver Dollar Speedway.”

On a wicked fast surface on Friday night, Sanders would get tight in turns three and four and it would result in him getting upside down early in the feature and ending his night abruptly.

Going to work on Saturday, Sanders and the Dale Miller Motorsports team were back in action and got off to a nice start as Sanders timed the Thompson’s Buice-GMC/Thompson’s Jeep-Ram/Dale Miller Septic, Inc. entry in second fastest in his group amongst the 55 cars that packed into the pit area.

Suring to a win in the heat race, Sanders moved into the Dash where his seventh place finish lined him up in the fourth for the 40-lap feature event on a track that was dry and slick with high winds hanging around the Chico area much of the day.

Getting off to a great start, Sanders would use the bottom grove to jump into third during the first lap of the race as he duked it out with more of the region’s top drivers.

Battling with the likes of Bud Kaeding and Sean Becker, Sanders would show patience as the 40-lapper got going. Battling between third and fourth much of the first half of the race, Sanders would move into third solidly at the race’s halfway point.

Chasing after Tim Kaeding and Justyn Cox, Sanders would use a restart on the 23rdlap to move into second and was able to get by Tim Kaeding on a lap 24 restart to take over the race’s top spot.

Out in front, Sanders would have TK and Bud Kaeding breathing down his neck but the Aromas, CA driver was able to keep them at bay initially. Continuing to lead the way, Sanders would be a bit of a sitting duck as rubber started to go down on the speedway.

Tim Kaeding was able to find it first and got by for the lead on the 28thcircuit as Sanders slipped to second. As the rubber continued to go down, Sanders would be unable to find his way back by for the race and capped his night with a second place finish.

“We had a good car, and I felt really good all weekend long,’ Sanders said. “Again, I can’t thank Dale and his guys for working so hard this week to get us ready to go.”

The Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Thompson’s Buick-GMC, Thompson’s Jeep-Ram, Dale Miller Septic, Inc., North County Plastering, Anrak Corporation, Yuba-Sutter Aviation, Frank’s Body Shop, Wion’s Powder Coating, Walker Performance Filtration, Factory Kahne Shocks, Smith Titanium, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., King Racing Products, A.R.T.
