Sanders Sensational as He Races to 16th Win of 2021

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to Ocean Speedway on Friday night fresh off of some late race bad luck, Justin Sanders would not be denied as he returned to his winning ways and recorded his 16th win of the 2021 season.

‘After having some bad luck last week, it was good to get back to Watsonville, CA and get another win,” Justin Sanders said. “It has been kind of an odd stretch for us, but we have still been working hard and continuing to show speed.”

With 24 cars checked in for a Friday night of action, Justin Sanders got his night off and running by timing the North County Plastering/Alkaline88/Andy’s Construction backed No. 17 entry in fifth fastest in qualifications.

Gridding the field from the second row in his heat race, Sanders would hold steady in the third position, which transferred him into the feature event as well as the all-important Dash.

Lining up fourth in the Dash, Sanders would pick up a pair of crucial positions in the six-lap shootout as he would working his way to a second place finish and find himself on the front row of the 30-lap feature event.

Gunning for his eighth win of the season at the track he calls home, Sanders was shot out of a rocket when the ‘Hall of Fame’ Night feature event went green. Turning in some impressive laps on the bullring, Sanders would not seriously be challenge in the opening laps as he was able to race to a half-track lead and lap up to seventh within the race’s first 20 laps.

Continuing to push the pace, Sanders’ comfortable lead would evaporate on the 25th stanza with a caution flag flying, and ultimately putting the lead lap cars back up on his rear bumper for a five lap shootout.

Despite the pace being interrupted, Sanders was not to be denied on this night. Back underway, the Aromas, CA driver continued to flex his muscle in the final laps as he was able to race on and collect his 16th win of the season.

“We just set a really good pace, and things felt really good,” Sanders added. “We have so many great people on the side of this car that continue to help us out, and I truly thank all of them.”

Saturday night, Sanders retook the wheel of the Dale Miller Motorsports No. 4sa entry at Placerville Speedway for the Mark Forni Classic.

After a bit of a break in the schedule with Miller, Sanders and crew did not seem to skip a beat as Sanders earned quick time honors in time trials, as he bested the 25-car field that had assembled for one of Placerville Speedway’s crowned jewel events.

Finishing third in heat race competition, Sanders would earn a spot in the redraw where the three pill lined him up for the 25-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Sanders would find himself up front and battling with Kalib Henry and DJ Netto for the top spot. On the fifth lap, Sanders would attack the cushion in turns three and four and nearly get his machine upside down, but able to save it a car behind him would not have the same fate and red would fly.

While it seemed that Sanders had no issues, the ensuing restart proved that there was indeed issues as his left front would be problematic as he raced down the back stretch, ultimately forcing him to stop, and bringing his night to an early end.

“The cushion was tricky on Saturday night, and I about got the car upside-down, Sanders said. “Luckily I was able to save it, but there was some damage from us bicycling that came through on the next restart, and that was our night.”

Justin and his team would like to thank North County Plastering, Alkaline88, Andy’s Construction, Roadside 24hr Service, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2021.
