(PETERSEN MEDIA- Watsonville, CA)- Friday night in Watsonville, CA it was a familiar face in victory lane during Ocean Speedway’s season opening event as Justin Sanders bested a deep field of 27 cars to capture the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo feature event.

By way of the Dash finish it was Sanders and Shane Golobic leading the field to green for the first 30-lap bout of the seaso. When the green flag was displayed, it was Sanders getting the jump on the lightning fast surface before the caution flag was needed with one lap complete.

Back under green, Sanders continued to lead the way over a hungry pack of drivers that included Shane Golobic, Carson Macedo, Koen Shaw, and Cole Macedo.

Sanders looked impressive out front but the green flag run would be short lived as Kyler Shaw would get upside down in turns three and four. He would escape the wreckage okay.

The next green flag run would be an extended one as the leaders would reach the back of the pack and find themselves in dense lapped traffic.

With Carson Macedo able to get by Shane Golobic for the second position, Macedo would then poke the Myatt No. 7m machine under Sanders as he looked for the top spot, but Sanders would muscle away as he quickly found a rhythym in traffic.

Carving through lapped traffic with extreme precision, Sanders would leave the field in his wake as the best race on the track would be for the second position.

Behind the leader, Carson Macedo, Shane Golobic, and DJ Netto would battle for the runner up position as they also had to navigate slower cars as well as eachtoher with Golobic getting the position.

A caution late in the race would set up a four-lap dash to the end. With Kyle Offill getting upside down on the first attempted restart, the second would go off with no issues and Sanders would get a nice jump, though Shane Golobic would hang close.

Just as the fans have seen so many times, Sanders and Golobic would battle hard for the race win, but on this night Justin Sanders would hang to to grab the victory as Shane Golboic, Carson Macedo, DJ Netto, and Cole Macedo rounded out the Top-Five

A total of 27 cars checked into Ocean Speedway for the highly anticipated season opening event and it was Shane Golobic earning quick time honrs with a lap of 11.344 seconds.

Heat race wins would go to Kurt Nelson, Koen Shaw, and Cole Macedo, as Justin Sanders picke dup the Dash win.

Jeremy Chisum won the ‘B’ Main.

DJ Netto earned Hard Charger honors by gaining six psoitons in the feature, and Gary Nelson, Jr would take home the Beer Optics Hard Luck award after being an innocent bystander in an opening lap wreck.
