Sanders Stays Red Hot at Marysville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Watsonville, CA driver, Justin Sanders, continues to start 2015 off red hot, as he picked up a second place finish at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, after charging to a fourth place finish at Ocean Speedway on Friday night.

“It was a pretty good weekend for both cars,” Sanders said. “We had great speed at both tracks, and ended up with two Top-Five finishes.”

Friday night at the ocean speedway, Sanders brought out his JSR No. 17 machine for the first time in 2015, and had a strong night all around. After timing in fifth fastest, Sanders had a little misfortune in his heat race that saw him get upside down.

Finding his way into the feature event, Sanders would line up in the fifth row on what was an extremely wide and racy Ocean Speedway. Like he has done over the course of his career at the Ocean Speedway, Sanders charged his way through the field. Going wheel to wheel with some of the region’s top drivers, Sanders was able to rebound from that early flip and score a fourth place finish.

Climbing back aboard the F&W Racing No. 18 machine on Saturday night, Sanders returned to a track where he has been very successful at to start the 2015 season, the Marysville Raceway.

Timing in fourth fastest amongst the 25 cars checked into the event, Sanders would score a third place finish in heat race action, and move directly into the night’s feature event.

Lining up fourth for the 25-lap finale, Sanders quickly worked his way into the second spot, as he set his sights on race leader, Colby Wiesz. Relentlessly pressuring Wiesz, Sanders tried everything in his arsenal to take over the top spot, but could not make it happen, as he settled for second at the stripe.

“I tried everything I could to get by Colby Wiesz on Saturday night, but he was just a little better than us,” Sanders said. “I really want to thank everyone who helps on both cars for all of their hard work. We are off to a really nice start to the season and hopefully we can keep it going.”

ON TAP: Sanders will return to action on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA for the Ocean Sprints event before heading to the Calistoga Speedway on Saturday night for the third round of Civil War Series action.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-8, Wins-1, Top-5’s-6, Top-10’s-7
