PETERSEN MEDIA: Bouncing back from a sixth place effort at the Johnny Key Classic, Justin Sanders made a last lap move to score his 18th win of the season and wrap up the 2015 Marysville Raceway Track Championship.

“It was an exciting race, and it is cool to grab another win to claim our first Marysville Raceway Track Championship,’ Justin Sanders said.

A very healthy field of 24 cars checked into the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, and Sanders would struggle early in the night as he timed his F&W Racing No. 18 machine in 15th fastest.

Putting his machine on the front row of his heat race, the Watsonville, CA driver would jump into the early lead, which he would not relinquish, picking up the win and earning a place in the Top-8 redraw for the 25-lap A main.

Pulling the five-pill, Sanders would line up in the third row on what was a rough and tumble Marysville Raceway surface. Working his way to the front, Sanders would bounce around the speedway and find himself in the second spot as just a few laps remained.

Chasing after Cody Lamar, Sanders would take the white flag in the second spot, but the crowd would come to their feet as the duo raced side by side. With Lamar holding the advantage through turns one and two, Sanders would make his winning move in turns three and four as he picked up his 10th win of the season at the Marysville Raceway and claimed the track championship.

“We have had a lot of these hard fought wins, and Saturday night was no different,’ Sanders said. “We had a really good car, and I thank everyone for all of their hard work.”

ON TAP: Sanders will now set his sights on the Gold Cup Race of Champions, as he will take on the Civil War Series on Wednesday night before battling with the World of Outlaws on Friday and Saturday.

2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-43, Wins-18, Top-5’s-31, Top-10’s-39
