PETERSEN MEDIA- With issues hampering him before Friday night’s 360 feature, Dominic Scelzi would overcome mid race contact to finish 12thduring Saturday night’s HK Classic finale with Roth Motorsports.

“It was a pretty trying weekend for our race team, but we fought hard and overcame some adversity,” Scelzi said. “Friday night we weren’t able to start the feature due to mechanical issues, and Saturday we had endured some contact while running in the Top-Five and had to come from the back.”

With mag issues keeping him from starting Friday night’s feature event, Dominic Scelzi and the Roth Motorsports team turned their attention to Saturday night’s King of the West event back at Ocean Speedway.

Putting a tough Friday behind them, Scelzi would get off to a very strong start to the night as he timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Jason, Tara, and Cole Roth Cattle Co. entry in fifth quickest in time trials.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, Scelzi would miss out on the regular Dash but would find himself in the Dash for Cash where he picked up a second place finish.

Moving into the 30-lap feature event, the Fresno, CA driver would take the green flag from the seventh starting position. When the green flag dropped, Scelzi would mash the throttle pedal and find himself in the fourth position as he battled with the likes of Justin Sanders and Jonathan Allard.

Contact while battling for position on the 24thlap would leave Scelzi stalled in turn four needing to go to the work area for repairs.

Able to rejoin the field, Scelzi would get all he could in the final laps as he would finish 12thwhen all was said and done.

“Thanks to Dennis and Teresa Roth for all they do for myself and this race team,” Scelzi said. “Tough weekend, but we will bounce back and try again this weekend.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Jason, Tara, And Cole Roth Cattle Co., Roth Investments, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Smith Titanium for their support in 2019.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 20, Wins: 4, Top 5’s: 14, Top 10’s: 15.
