Sean Becker 8th at Placerville Speedway with Monhoff Racing

PETERSEN MEDIA- Reuniting with Dan Monhoff and the No. 35 team on Saturday night in Placerville, CA, Sean Becker had his mount in the thick of things until a couple of costly mistakes hindered him in the waning laps as he picked up an eighth-place finish.

“I was super happy with the speed of the car all night,” Sean Becker said. “Dan Monhoff had the car rolling really well in the feature and had us in contention for a win, but unfortunately, I made too many mistakes being aggressive on the cushion.”

Checking in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the track’s penultimate points event with the perpetual ‘Big Trophy’ up for grabs, Becker timed the M&M Structures backed entry in 13th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Safely in the heat race inversion, Becker was on the front row of his heat race and knew he needed to pick up the win for a chance to qualifying for the nightly redraw.

On a very slick Placerville Speedway surface, ‘The Shark’ was able to take care of business as he wired the field picked up the much needed win.

Moving into the redraw, the five-pill put the Roseville, CA driver in the third row of the 25-lap feature event. When the race went green, Becker quickly worked his way into third as he chased after Justyn Cox and Colby Johnson who ran first and second during the early stages of the feature.

Jumping into second on an early restart, Becker got into the cushion a little too hard on the next lap and slipped back to 10th as he got back up to speed amidst a hornet’s nest of cars.

Working his way back forward, a lap 15 restart saw Becker power his way into sixth before he moved into fifth on the 17th lap.

Looking for more, Becker got out of shape in turn four on the 18th lap and nearly made contact with the front stretch wall as he was forced to get out of the gas and give up numerous positions as he fell back to 11th with just six laps to go in the race.

Getting what he could in the final stanzas, Becker was able to power his way back into the Top-10 and close his night out with an eighth place finish.

“It was good to be back racing again, as I had been away for a few weeks,” Becker added. “Disappointed in the mistakes I made, but really happy with how things felt.”
