Sean Becker and Bjork Motorsports 4th at Merced Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading to Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA for Friday’s Cotton Classic, the weekend took a bit of a turn as the track cancelled Friday’s event after time trials, before making the call to cancel Saturday’s program around 10am. Heading for home, Becker and company saw the announcement about a newly scheduled event at Merced Speedway, headed that way, and picked up a fourth-place finish.

“The weekend certainly threw us a ton of curveballs,” Sean Becker said. “I’m grateful for the hard work the team put in changing motors multiple times, and I’m equally as thankful that Merced Speedway stepped up and gave us a place to race.”

A total of 13 cars altered their plans and headed to Merced Speedway, and Becker got his night underway by timing the Bjork Construction/Kaeding Performance backed No. 7B in eight fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver made a couple of nice moves on the Merced Speedway bullring as he moved into second. Finishing second, Becker was locked into the feature event inversion as he took the green flag from the second row for the 30-lap feature.

When the race came to life, Becker settled into fourth as he chased after third running Joey Ancona. With the surface racy, Becker searched around as he looked for a spot on the podium, however it was tricky with the leaders spending much of the night in clean air.

Holding the fourth spot down for all 30-laps, Becker capped the wild weekend off with a fourth place finish, as he now turns his attention to this weekend’s Fall Nationals in Chico, CA.

“Merced Speedway isn’t a place many of us have raced at a ton, and my guys did a great job of finding speed all night long,” Becker added. “I am happy we came away with a Top-Five.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-23, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 5, Top-10’s- 15

ON TAP: Becker is back in action this Friday and Saturday in Chico, CA for the Fall Nationals.
