Sean Becker and Monhoff Racing Second at Sprint Car Challenge Tour Season Opener

PETERSEN MEDIA- After finishing second in what he called a Sprint Car Challenge Tour tune up with Monhoff Racing a couple weeks back at Marysville Raceway, Sean Becker was able to pick up another second-place finish on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway with the SCCT.

“We had a great night, and the cars had a lot of speed every time we hit the track,” Sean Becker said.

Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Sean Becker and Dan Monhoff were in action for the opening round of Sprint Car Challenge Tour action where Becker would open the night up by timing in fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver would settle into the third position as he chased after second running Ryan Robinson, and race leader Ryan Bernal. Needing to only run in the Top-4 to earn a spot in the Dash based on his qualifying effort, Becker would hang on to third and move into the aforementioned Dash as well as the feature event.

Pulling the two pill in the Dash redraw, Becker would line up alongside Tanner Carrick in the High Sierra Industries Dash.

Getting the jump, Becker would race his way to the win, and put the Monhoff Racing machine on the pole for the first SCCT feature event of the 2021 season.

At the drop of the green flag, Becker would slip back to second as Carrick got the jump on him in the feature event. Running in second for the first eight laps, an early restart would see Becker falter and fall all the way back to fourth.

Moving back to third on lap 15, Becker would find himself back in second on the 17th lap. After a lap 17 cautions flag was needed, the next 11 laps would be an all out war between Becker, race leader, Tanner Carrick, and third running, Chase Madjic in what was a wild three car battle for the lead.

As the trio raced hard through traffic, a caution on the 28th lap would end the battle and give race leader, Tanner Carrick a clear track.

The final seven markers would see Becker close in on Carrick but would settle for second when the race drew to a close.

“I am bummed I couldn’t get this team a win, but I am fully confident we can put ourselves in contention for more wins no matter what rack we go to,” Becker said.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-6, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 2, Top-10’s- 5

ON TAP: Becker will return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night as he climbs back aboard the Vertullo Motorsports No. 83V.
