PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker and Bjork Motorsports put together a strong weekend at the 32nd Dave Bradway Jr Memorial. With the team’s new 410ci powerplant showing up late last week, the team was able to compete in both races where Becker picked up finishes of seventh and eighth.
“Overall, it was a very solid weekend for the Bjork Motorsports team,” Sean Becker said. “Both nights we were able to forward in the feature and pass some really good teams.”
Friday night opened the weekend up at Placerville Speedway as the Sprint Car Challenge Tour took center stage. Becker got the night kicked off by timing the Bjork Construction/Dunkle Logistics backed No. 7B timed in fifth fastest in his qualifying group.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, ‘The Shark’ made some moves in his heat race which is imperative in SCCT action as feature event starting position is directly correlated to heat race finishing position.
Working his way to a third-place finish, Becker was securely in the opening night feature event as he rolled off the starting grid from the 14th starting position.
On a slick Placerville Speedway surface, the race nearly went nonstop as the opening half of the race went green with no stoppages. From the seventh row, Becker was mired mid pack as he rode around in 15th during the extend green flag run.
The double-file restart was good to the Roseville, CA driver as he shot into 12th, and moved into 11th a lap later. Quickly working into 10th on the 26th lap, Becker was in eighth by lap 28 as he came to life in the closing stages of the race.
Battling hard in a tight pack for sixth, Becker sliced and diced and ultimately capped the night off with a run to eighth after lining up 14th.
Saturday night the team made their long awaited 410ci debut together as they were back in action on the hill in Placerville, CA with the KWS/NARC Series.
With a total of 29 cars checked in, Becker was the first car on the track for time trials and held on for 12th fastest once the session concluded.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Becker was in one of the most entertaining battles of the night as the top three jockeyed for position for all 10-lpas on the slick Placerville surface.
Finishing third, Becker was locked into the 40-lap finale and had a little better starting spot as he took the green out of the 12th position.
Following a pre-race track groom, Becker jumped into 10th as the race came to life, and was in seventh by the seventh lap. As the re worked surface quickly went back slick, passing got a little tricky.
Having some luck on his side, Becker took over the sixth position on the 21st lap, but slipped back to seventh on lap 25. Hooking up in an entertaining battle, Becker swapped sixth and seventh positions for several laps before settling into seventh on the 33rd marker, where he went to finish.
“I do need to execute better in qualifying to give us a better opportunity to start further forward in these feature events,” Becker added. “Thanks to the Bjork team for working hard over a tough two-day show.”
