PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting in two nights of action with Vertullo Motorsports before the King of the West campaign gets underway, Sean Becker and company were in action at Silver Dollar Speedway for the annual Silver Cup where Becker posted finishes of ninth and 10th place.
“We had some decent finishes, and I am extremely grateful for all the hard work that Dave Vertullo and Guy Morrison are putting in to keep us improving,” Sean Becker said.
Kicking the weekend off on Friday night, Becker timed the Starr Property Management/Morrison Concrete backed No. 83v in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials amongst the 37 cars checked in for battle.
Heading into heat race action, Becker would get a little out of sorts and it cost him a couple of positions as he would finish fifth and be forced into the ‘B’ Main. Making a few adjustments to the Vertullo Motorsports entry, Becker would win the semi going away, transferring him into the feature event where he took the green flag from the 17thstarting position.
On a very heavy and fast racing surface in the feature event, ‘The Shark’ was very calculated in traffic as he slowly worked his way forward. Getting into the 11th spot at the race’s halfway point, Becker continue to work his way forward as he cracked the Top-10 on the 19th lap.
Using a late restart to his advantage, Becker would grab the ninth position with just three laps to go in the feature event and hold the position through the checkered flag.
Saturday night saw Becker get his night started off strong again as he timed in ninth quickest in qualifying time trials. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Roseville, CA driver would finish third and transfer directly into the 30-lap Silver Cup feature event on this night.
Taking the green flag from the 10th starting position, Becker would quickly jump up into ninth as the race came to life. Battling hard for position inside the Top-10 during an extended 19-lap green flag run, Becker sat in 10th when the caution was finally needed.
Jumping into eighth when the race resumed, more hard-fought action would see Becker slip back to ninth, before falling to 10th on the race’s last lap capping his weekend with his second Top-10.
“I am really looking forward to getting our KWS/NARC campaign kicked off together in a couple of weeks,” Becker added.
