PETERSEN MEDIA- Sean Becker and the Menne Motorsports team were disappointed with how the 2017 Dave Bradway Jr Memorial weekend. Running 12th on Friday night during the Brownell Memorial, mid race issues would force Becker back to the trailer.
“It was just a frustrating weekend that went down the tubes for us,” Becker said. “Saturday night I timed in poorly, but still got us in the show. We were picking cars off the first part of the race, but we had some contact break something in the rear end, and I opted to pull off.”
37 cars checked into Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night to battle with the King of the West Series in the 27th Annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial. Timing in 25th fastest in qualifying, Becker would get moving in his heat race.
Taking advantage of a couple of miscues, Becker would finish in the fourth spot and move the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay, Inc. machine into the 40-lap feature event.
Lining up 17th in the ‘A’, Becker would do what he could in the caution plagued opening laps of the race. Working his way forward, Becker would crack the Top-10 on the race’s 10th lap and was up in the eighth spot on lap 13.
A restart on lap 13 would prove detrimental for Becker as a car stumbled in front of him and forced him to check up. Getting tagged from the back, Becker’s machine would spin to a stop, and he would be forced to the back of the pack. Making a few laps on a rough and tumble Silver Dollar Speedway surface, Becker’s car would not feel right and he would take his machine back to the trailer.
Friday night also saw Becker and company at Silver Dollar Speedway as they kicked the weekend off by participating in the Bill Brownell Memorial. Timing in sixth fastest during qualifications, Becker would run sixth in his heat race and find himself in the “B” main.
Advancing from third to second in the semi, Becker would punch his ticket into the 25-lap feature event where he would grid the field from the 15th starting position. Able to pick up a few positions during the course of the feature, Becker would take the checkered flag with a 12th place finish.
“We’ve got some work to do, and I know Dan will get everything fixed and we will come back next week swinging and hopefully better ourselves,” Becker added.
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, K&N, Pioneer Auto Body, and The Joie of Seating for their support in 2017.
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-13, Wins- 1, Top 5’s- 8, Top 10’s- 10
