Sean Becker Has Early Exit at Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial

PETERSEN MEDIA- Looking for a bit of redemption at the Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial after being involved in a thriller one year ago, Sean Becker saw a good run come to an early end as he got upside down in the Monhoff Racing No. 35 in Marysville, CA on Saturday night.

‘Dan Monhoff provided a great car that was capable of competing for a win,” Sean Becker said. “Unfortunately, I was too greedy trying to make something happen on an early restart, and then again, later in the race trying to salvage a good finish.”

Checking in at Marysville Raceway, Becker opened the night up by timing the M&M Structures backed No. 35 in fourth fastest in his qualifying flight.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Becker had his elbows up as he powered into the lead and looked to be on his way to a berth in the High Sierra Industries Dash until a late yellow bunched the field back up.

With Shane Golobic on his tail, two of the state’s top runners hooked up in an exciting battle for the top spot. With Golobic getting the better of the battle, Becker’s second place finish put him in the feature, but not making the Dash lined him up ninth in the feature.

Running inside the Top-10 in the early goings of the ‘A’, an early restart saw cars together, and Becker was including in the tangle but with nobody stopping the race carried on as Becker lost several spots and ran near the back of the field.

On this night, Marysville Raceway had a superb surface for the field and Becker was able to use restarts to his advantage and work his back into the Top-10.

Another restart ultimately proved detrimental for the driver simply known as ‘The Shark’ as he got upside down on a lap 16 restart and brought his night to an end.

“It was a bummer to crash like that, and hopefully the damage isn’t too bad so we can get back in the Monhoff Racing car and go after some redemption soon,” Becker said.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-8, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 0, Top-10’s- 4

ON TAP: Becker will be back in action at Placerville Speedway this weekend for the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial with Bjork Motorsports.
