Sean Becker Lands on Sprint Car Challenge Tour Podium with Cook Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of the Cook Motorsports No. 22x on Saturday night, Sean Becker had a very impressive showing during the Sprint Car Challenge Tour’s season opener as he picked up a third-place finish.

“Blake Cook and his team gave me a super-fast car all night, and I just wish I had performed better in the Dash to get us in a little better position for the main event,” Sean Becker said.

Spending a better part of the afternoon getting a fresh power plant ready to go for the night ahead, Becker came out swinging as he timed the Absolute Plumbing/Cook’s Contracting/CSR Builders No. 22x in fastest in the fifth qualifying group.

Lining up fourth in heat No. 5, ‘The Shark’ would race to a third-place finish which transferred him into both the High Sierra Industries Dash as well as the impending 35-lap feature event.

Pulling the two in the Dash draw, Becker would line up on the front row of the six-lap shootout where he would finish fourth and find himself in the second row of the 35-lap SCCT opening night feature event.

As the race came to life, Becker would slip back as he found himself back in sixth on the slick Placerville Speedway surface. Battling with many of the state’s top drivers, Becker would race into fifth just prior to the halfway point.

Holding down fifth through the middle stages of the feature, ‘The Shark’ would pounce with just 10-to-go as he overtook the fourth spot. A late restart put him in the second row and right behind the lead duo of Justin Sanders and Shane Golobic where he would have five laps to work his magic.

When the green flag was displayed, Becker pounced into the third position as he gave chase to Golobic and Sanders who ran ahead of him. Unable to get to the lead duo, Becker capped his night off with a third-place finish.

“Our car really got better and better as the race went, and this team is really ready to compete for wins every night out,” Becker added.

Cook Motorsports would like to thank Absolute Plumbing, Cook’s Contracting, CSR Builders, Shark Racing Engines, Cottage Grove Inn, Primetime Designs, Highline Performance, Les Schwab, and Cascade Pizza for their support.
