PETERSEN MEDIA- A busy weekend for Sean Becker and Vertullo Motorsports saw Becker pick of two top finishes on Friday night in Tulare, CA before recording an eighth-place finish on Saturday in Santa Maria, CA.
“Tulare went really well,” Sean Becker said. “I am still working on finding that speed lap after lap as a driver that the leaders always have. Luckily the team gave me great cars on Friday, and we came away with two really good finishes.”
Taking part in King of the West action as well as Kings of Thunder 360i action on Friday night, Becker got the night opened up by timing the Starr Property Management/Morrison Concrete/A.R.T. backed No. 83v machine in eighth fastest in KWS action.
Timing in on an extremely slick surface, heat races would be run a freshly re vamped track that had a ton of moisture and grip. Able to race to the win, the Roseville, CA driver would qualify for the Dash where he would pocket a third-place finish.
Taking the green flag from the inside of the second row, Becker would find himself racing with the likes of Dominic Scelzi, DJ Netto, and Shane Golobic. Working all around the high banked speedway, Becker would take the checkered flag with a fifth-place finish.
360ci action saw ‘The Shark’ time the Vertullo Motorsports mount in sixth fastest in time trials and a second-place finish in heat race competition which then put him in the fifth row for the finale.
After running fifth in the 410ci race, Becker proved to be up to the task to charge his way through the field on the surface that was back to being extremely slick. Slicing and dicing his way around the Thunderbowl, Becker would work his way up to garner a podium finish as he ended up third.
Saturday night the scene shifted to Santa Maria Speedway for more King of the West action. Timing in fourth fastest on another very slick and abrasive racing surface, Becker would finish third in heat race competition.
Missing out on the Dash, the Roseville, CA driver would line up just behind the six Dash cars as he took the green flag from the seventh starting position.
A massive pile up on the start of the race would see Becker endure contact and head to the work area. Able to restart, Becker would do what he could with a beat up car as he was able to work his way back into the Top-10 and cap his night off with an eighth place finish.
“Saturday night we continued to have the same really good speed that we have had as of late, but a pile up on the opening lap left us with a pretty beat up car,” Becker said. “Luckily these guys built a resilient car and we somehow were able to limp our way to a Top-10.”
