Sean Becker Picks Up Pair of Top-Five Finishes with Antaya Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting the call top run the Antaya Motorsports No. 16A over this past weekend in Chico, CA, Sean Becker would have a great weekend as he finished fifth on Friday night during the Brownell/Herseth Memorial and backed it up with a fourth place effort on Friday night with the King of the West Series.

“I really want to thank Larry Antaya and Colby Copeland for thinking of me and giving me the call to run the No. 16A over the weekend,” Sean Becker said. “I wish I could have been better early in the night and set us up in both features, but we were able to rebound really well.”

Taking the seat of the Antaya’s Fire Protection Services backed No. 16A on Friday night, Becker would get timed in sixth fastest in his qualifying group which lined him sixth in the night’s first heat race.

Getting a great start in his heat, Becker would make up a ton of ground as he jumped into third and went on to finish there. Improving his feature event starting position with each car he was able to pass, Becker would roll off the starting grid from the ninth position.

When the feature event came to life, Becker slowly began his pursuit to the front in typical ‘Shark’ fashion. Getting into seventh by the halfway point, Becker would race into fifth on the 15th lap. Continuing to pounce on the competition, Becker would take over the third spot on lap 22 but would get shuffled back while navigating through traffic on the final lap of the race as he took the checkered flag with a fifth place finish.

Back in action on Saturday night with the KWS for the David Tarter Memorial, Becker would get timed in 15th fastest, which would put him on the front row of his heat race as he just made the heat race inversion.

Racing to the heat race win, Becker would not have enough points to garner berth into the six-car Dash but would was safely in the 35-lap feature event as he took the green flag from the 13th starting spot.

Jumping into 10th on the race’s opening lap, Becker would make some big moves early as he took over the fifth position on the seventh circuit.

Racing into fourth on the ninth lap, Becker would spend a good chunk of the race battling for a spot on the podium.

Getting into third on the 23rd lap, Becker would hold down the final podium spot for two laps before Dominic Scelzi scooted past him an dropped him back to foruth.

Unable to get back by Scelzi, Becker would cap off his weekend with his second consecutive Top-Five has he finished fourth.

“Not getting timed in well really put us tough starting spots in both features and that was on me,” Becker added. ‘This car was so fast both nights and I wish I could have closed both nights out a little better for them, but it was a lot of fun to run with this team.”

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-7, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 3, Top-10’s- 4

ON TAP: Becker will return to action in two weeks as he will pilot a Bjork Motorsports car in Hanford and Tulare May 13th and 14th.
