PETERSEN MEDIA- Menne Motorsports and driver Sean Becker made the long haul from Ft. Jones, CA to take part in the 2017 KWS opener at Kern County Raceway Park. Rebounding from an early incident, Becker would charge his way through the field to score an eighth place finish.

“We have a really good car, but I just need to figure out my qualifying issue quickly and avoid putting us in an early hole,” Sean Becker said. “This team should be battling for wins rather then picking up solid finishes.”

Getting off to a slow start aboard the Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Cherry Street Mini Storage/Menne Ranch Hay, Inc. sprinter, Becker would time in 23rd quickest during qualifying time trials.

On a slick racing surface during heat race action, “The Shark” would live up to his nickname and work from the back to finish in the fourth position and safely advance into the night’s 30-lap ‘A’ Main event.

Lining up in the 17th starting position, Becker’s machine would spin to a stop on the sixth lap and he would be forced to tag the rear of the field. The Kern County Raceway Park did not disappoint in the feature event as a well prepared surface allowed Becker to feast on the field as he charged forward.

Taking part in some extremely exciting wheel-to-wheel racing on the 1/3 mile facility Becker was able to work his way up to the Top-10 as the laps clicked down. Using a couple of late restarts to pick up more positions, Becker would get up to the eighth spot when the checkered flag flew on the exciting feature event.

“I am extremely grateful that Dan Menne decided to make the long tow to race this event,” Becker noted. “It will only make us better by experiencing new tracks when we get the chance.”

Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Hunt’s Race World, Molecule, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, K&N, Pioneer Auto Body, and The Joie of Seating for their support in 2017.
